Fresh Ink

Hot damn! Fresh off the sketchbook, I have for your greedy eyes the finished inks on the Group Commission! The ink really breathes some new life into the drawing. I’ve tightened up all the sketchy details, and added some finishing touches that really polish it all up nicely.

I’m going to add in some additional design elements that have changed from the pencils to the ink stage (like the “Schwing” logo, and the title on the “Ritual Sacrifice for Dummies” book) in the coloring process. Let me know what you think of the piece so far! Any suggestions as to the colors for the final? I should hand this drawing out on paper with a box of crayons and see what everyone comes up with.

Would anyone who’s getting a print when I’m finished be interested in getting a black and white version to color themselves? I should put together a coloring book someday. Of course, you’d never give it to your kids…

Commission Inks

And our adjective-adjective-noun combinations, for your enjoyment: Hindu Plumbing God, Giant Silver Squid, Cthulhu’s Sushi Emporium, Cthulhu’s Last Supper, Ethereal Moonlit Pedalwheeler, Mysterious Wide-eyed Hierophant, Bicycling Cumming Nuns, and Deliriously Cthonic Baccante. How many can you find? (It shouldn’t be too hard!)

Marty, this is beautiful. I especially love the faucet on the Hindu Plumbing God. (:

I really love this. It’s fabulous and quirky and really detailed. I’m glad you darkened the windows of the HPL building.

What’s the sphere of water behind the Hindu Plumbing God? It’s clear he’s holding a chain with a tub drain on it, but I followed the chain and it doesn’t appear attached to the sphere, now that I give it a good look. Is the little shop Cthulhu is holding the Sushi Emporium?

I love the fortune cookie on the ground. Your attention to detail pleases my eye for detail something wonderful.

As for coloration, I think rich, deep blues and reds and silvers.

    Fantastic Marty, truly fantastic.

The Hindu Plumbing God is *also* very fond of his faucet. Heh!

The sphere of water behind the Hindu Plumbing God is the Moon! In a desperate, last ditch attempt to save humanity from the rampaging steampunk Cthulhu, the HPG is brandishing his most powerful weapon: the Moon’s Drain Plug! (No, that was not one of the 3-word phrases I got, but man… I would’ve nailed it if it was!) Unfortunately, this means that all the moon juice is spilling out.

Yes, that is indeed Cthulhu’s Sushi Emporium that he’s about to bash into the HPG’s head. …there is also some takeout from Cthulhu’s Sushi on the lawn where the sacrifice is being held. Those girls can’t cheer on the apocalypse on an empty stomach!

I for one welcome our Cthonic Robot Overlords and hope that they give me an island with 200 thai slaves and an endless supply of bacon (or just an endless supply of thai slaves and the supplies to make bacon).

Is there a list of all the words used to inspire this? I’d be interested in that.

    “Hindu Plumbing God”
    “Giant Silver Squid”
    “Cthulhu’s Sushi Emporium”
    “Ethereal Moonlit Pedalwheelers”
    “Cthulhu’s Last Supper”
    “Bicycling Cumming Nuns”
    “Deliriously Cthonic Baccante”
    “Mysterious Wide-eyed Hierophant”

I know for a fact, Green, that you were part of the conversation responsible for one of these! Hope you enjoyed seeing it come to life! The color is looking great, and I’ll post a preview of what I’ve gotten done so far soon.

I want a black ink version to color. I know I’m not one of the contributors, but I IS HELPING!!! So I can have one, right? PLS?!

Beautiful as always, once I have the color version I will be one step closer to my goal of enough prints to start the Martin Whitmore Museum in Youngstown. *Grins* I’ll put it into one of thoe wonderfully creepy homes on the North Side near Wick Park and Stambaugh…Big stained glass over the entryway of Cthulhu’s Last Supper. Keep up the good work, Iron Artist.

I like the sound of the Martin Whitmore Museum of Youngstown… I approve. I will attend the grand opening, and sacrifice a virgin to commemorate the occasion! I’m about to post the first stage of the color process. Enjoy!
